It is difficult to imagine what other contemporary artist could have created public art comparable to Three Sets of Twelve (2004) in terms of the level of technical accomplishment, the sheer scale of the undertaking, and the depth of his analysis of social issues. His public works prior to the courthouse mural collectively demonstrate an enormously generous commitment to articulating visually the core possibilities and requirements for democratic society.
